Happy International Women’s Day

A day to celebrate and uplift women, is there anything better? Our honest opinion is yes—there is something better. It’s celebrating and uplifting women EVERYday.

Our mission as a team is to forge trustworthy, female-empowering relationships with risk-taking, rule-breaking, glass-ceiling-shattering clients, and bring their values, stories, skills and goals to life through style. We believe that clothing is a tool that helps women achieve success and confidence.

We empower women by helping them achieve great style. A key element to this is helping them to establish a uniform (read: The outfit that makes them feel like their best most confident self). As a team of female style experts, we thought we would do some self reflection and share our own uniforms, how they empower us and the women who inspire us. We each answered these same 3 questions:

  1. What is your go-to uniform?
  2. How does your uniform/closet empower you?
  3. Who is a woman that inspires you?

See and shop from our answers below!

Q1. What is your go-to uniform?

Denim, white top, blazer and heel (statement blazer or statement heel)

Q2. How does your uniform/closet empower you?

My uniform makes me feel like the best version of myself. No self doubt, no second guessing myself. The sound of the heels psychologically pumps me up (no pun intended) and the blazer holds my shoulders back and creates a silhouette that makes me feel like my most confident self. It’s also a look that I personally feel is timeless which is important to me.

Q3. Who is a woman that inspires you?

My mom inspires me on a daily basis. Her positivity and “glass half full” outlook on life is infectious. She’s the hardest worker I know but will drop everything to help you when you need her most. “Making memories” is her favourite pastime and trust me, she knows how to make memories (even out of the most simple moments). Although she taught me to love and appreciate the clothes and other materialistic items in my life, the thing she values most is her family. I feel so fortunate to call her my mom, friend and mentor – and I hope I can impact the important women in my life the way my mom has impacted me.

Q1. What is your go-to uniform?

My go-to uniform in the winter months is a classic black trouser with a tapered leg, a t-shirt and a double breasted blazer! But… if I have a rushed morning, I always opt for a clean cut black trouser, a turtleneck and a pump to ensure that I feel put together. Day-to-day I usually stick with the same few pieces of simple jewelry that transition from morning to night so that I don’t have to think much about them. This usually entails a few gold bands on my fingers and pearl earrings!

Q2. How does your uniform/closet empower you?

I believe that the clothing I wear each day empowers me to embrace the woman I am and fuels the woman I am working to become. Your clothing should help build you up, aid your goals and support who you want to be in the future.

Q3. Who is a woman that inspires you?

I feel so thankful to have plenty of women in my life that have shaped, and continue to shape who I am today. However, the first person that comes to mind when I hear that question is my mom. Ever since I was little she has taught me the importance of exuding  kindness, warmth, and empathy in all situations. She taught me that there are so many different ways to be a strong woman. I know that if I become even half the woman that she is, I’ll be proud of who I grew up to be.

I also have to say that working on the JC team with the three most powerful women has also taught me how strong and dangerous women truly are when they’re together. Julianne, Adrienne and Emily are a triple threat and if you ever have the opportunity witness them in a team meeting, you’ll probably leave with a new lease on life. I know I do every time I have the opportunity to work with them haha!

Q1. What is your go-to uniform?

In each and every one of the outfits I wear you can expect two things; style and comfort. Although these two elements are in constant battle of each other, I am never willing to sacrifice one for the other. The key to combining them? Pants you can breathe, eat and move in (If you thought of a pair that doesn’t allow this, this is your sign to donate them) and layers. As such, my current uniform consists of a wide leg trouser, a button up or t-shirt, a sneaker and a blazer or knit to throw on or over my shoulders.

Q2. How does your uniform/closet empower you?

My closet is my safe space and my clothes are the tools I equip myself with each day. Each morning I approach my wardrobe with a strategy, asking myself…what items will help me to feel most confident and aid in my success today? I dress accordingly, taking into consideration the various tasks and places I will go. My clothes empower me because they allow me to express who I am and support me, they allow me to walk into a room and say here I am.

Q3. Who is a woman that inspires you?

I’m a girls girl—With a family of 7 and 3 amazing sisters, I learned the power of women from a very young age. There are so many women that inspire me, from the strong female leaders in my family to the all female office I work in each day. Yes, i’m going to be that one person who says it…ALL women inspire me.  And I mean it. From the women I see on the street, to my coworkers, the change leaders, my family and friends, multiple women inspire and impact me daily and for that I am so grateful.

Q1. What is your go-to uniform?

When I’m working from home I opt for a comfortable matching set with cute slippers and always white socks. I don’t know what it is but having socks that clash with my outfit (even pyjamas) drives me crazy. If I’m headed into the office, I opt for blue jeans, most likely a knit or crewneck sweater and a clean pair of white sneakers. And I always have on my simple staple jewelry and my hair pulled back.

Q2. How does your uniform/closet empower you?

My uniform tells you a lot about myself. As a woman that thrives with routine, I like having a formula to work with in building my outfits each morning that still allows for some personality. As the weather warms up and we are back in the office more, I love wearing brighter coloured and more dramatic tops (with my jeans and white sneakers of course).

Q3. Who is a woman that inspires you?

I can’t really name just one, names that come to mind are Florence Nightingale, Billie Jean King, Tara Westover and Queen Elizabeth. Put simply – they get the job done. In spite of every obstacle that was put before them, they persevered and brought forth change.
